Automatic adjustment
Use schedules, timers, and quick controls
Once you have found a comfortable style, automatic adjustment and quick controls reduce the need to reopen the main window throughout the day.
Time-based schedules
A schedule can turn PaperScreen on, change to a mode, or pause the effect at a chosen time. Each schedule has its own switch, so there is no separate master switch to remember.
- 1
Open Settings and choose Schedules.
- 2
Add a schedule, then choose its time, action, and whether it applies only on weekdays.
- 3
Turn off an individual schedule when you want to keep it without running it.
What happens when the time has already passed
Creating or editing a schedule does not immediately replay an earlier time from the same day. PaperScreen waits for the next real occurrence. This prevents a configuration change from unexpectedly changing the current display.
Timer, menu bar, and global shortcut
The clock in the title bar creates a temporary timer, such as pausing PaperScreen after 30 minutes. The menu bar can turn the effect on or off, change modes, and start a timer without opening the main window. The global shortcut can be customized; record the keys and confirm the change before it becomes active.
- Use the timer for a single session.
- Use schedules for a repeating daily rhythm.
- Use the menu bar when you need a specific mode.
- Use the global shortcut for the fastest on-or-pause action.
