Why I made PaperScreen
The Story Behind PaperScreen
PaperScreen began with a simple wish: make the screen I face every day feel closer to paper—natural, quiet, and comfortable.
As someone who works at a computer every day, I spend a large part of my life looking at a screen.
Several years ago, I built a screen-brightness utility. It could make the display darker, but it did not solve what bothered me most: the screen still felt unmistakably digital. Lower brightness alone could not make it feel as calm and natural as paper.
Over the years, I tried many display tools and kept adjusting brightness, color temperature, and contrast. None gave me quite the experience I was looking for.
Could a display keep its color and motion, yet feel closer to the soft, quiet character of paper?
One day, looking at the printed books and e-paper reader beside me, I began searching seriously for an answer. That question became PaperScreen.
After many rounds of tuning paper tones, textures, and soft-light scenes, it became a tool I wanted to keep on every day. I am sharing it now in the hope that it can make time in front of a screen feel a little more natural and comfortable for others, too.
